New- Three day Pack Trips During our Summer Riding Vacation weeks we are offering our optional new and exciting 3 day pack trips high into the mountains of the Wind River Range. Early Wednesday morning we will pack our horses and mules and set off on a trip that promises to be one of the most beautiful and exciting rides you ever do. We will spend Wednesday riding to our high mountain camp. Along the way you will pass some of the most breath taking scenery that Wyoming has to offer. Of course a friendly moose or elk may greet us as we continue up to our camp. Once in camp, we will give you a chance to unwind and talk with friends about the wonderful ride up. Then it's time for supper. Pack trips have a tradition of having fine dining from a Dutch oven and ours is no exception. Our camp cooks have years of experience satisfying guests with their cooking. After a supper that is sure to please we can sit around the campfire and exchange stories of our days adventure. Who knows, a song or two may even break out before we all turn in after a long day.. Thursday is a full day of riding in the Wind River Range. Beautiful mountain overlooks, high mountain trails, scenic rivers and lakes are just a few of the things you may see. Of course there is always the wildlife. Elk, Moose, and an occasional bear are just some of the wildlife you may see. Have your camera ready. For those who prefer fishing to trail riding, many high mountain lakes await you. Several species of trout including our native cut throat inhabit the lakes around our camp. Most of these lakes are seldom fished so the fish are just waiting for you! These fish are usually not too large ranging in size of 7 to 9 inches but you never know. That big lunker may be just a cast away. If you plan to fish, you will need to obtain a Wyoming fishing license in Jackson or Pinedale before you come to the ranch and provide your own fishing equipment. Once back in camp, our cook will be happy to prepare your catch for your supper. It doesn't get much fresher then that! On Friday we will break camp, load up the horses and head back to the Box R. Our ride home is as good as the ride up except many guests just don't want to leave. Supper will be back at the ranch where you will want to linger and tell tales of the past three days. What a way to end a vacation before heading home on Saturday. There is an additional charge of $125 per person/per night for this trip. Guests taking this trip should bring a sleeping bag and pad and pack some extra clothing for the cool high mountain weather. Those wishing to fish must obtain a Wyoming fishing license before coming to the ranch.
